**CANCELLED** Perimeter Ride of Seattle
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join us for the Perimeter Ride of Seattle (PROS) - a beautiful scenic ride that is half sight-seeing tour and half vigorous workout. The goal of the route is to ride as much of the Puget Sound coast and the Lake Washington shoreline as possible. Some of the sights we will see include Golden Gardens, the Ballard Locks (which we walk across), Discovery Park, Magnolia bluff (with its fabulous view of Puget Sound and downtown), the Olympic Sculpture Park, the downtown Seattle waterfront, Fisherman's Terminal, Alki Beach, Lincoln Park, Seward Park, and the Arboretum! The workout part of the ride comes from all the hills we need to ride to connect those places. It should be fun!
This ride is posted at a vigorous pace (18 - 20 MPH on the flats), but it includes lots of multiuse paths that require lower speeds. We will follow the posted speed limits and we may need to ride slower if required for safety. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup at the top of each hill.
Let's meet at the Logboom Park and please be ready to ride at 8:00am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
Although Logboom Park itself is closed, there is plenty of street parking nearby. Port-o-potty restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for a water/bathroom break at the Ballard Locks at mile 17, for food/water/bathroom at the Alki Starbucks at mile 36, and for water/bathrooms at Seward Park at mile 61.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
