Free Group Ride
Ride Up North, Far Up North #5 (repeat)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
This is a repeat of last Tuesday's ride.
March Point Park and Ride, around March Point, across Tommy Thompson bridge, along the biking/walking trail into Anacortes, Guemes Island via the ferry, around Guemes and retrace our route back to March Point Park and Ride. If the group wants to, we can make a short detour and short climb up to Cap Sante Park and a terrific view of the surroundings and maybe see some of the many deer that run wild in this part of the city of Anacortes.
This ride is designated #5 in the RUN FUN (Ride Up North, Far Up North) series. RUN FUN rides #1-#3 are flat leisurely rides with minimal hills. As the series number increases, so does the length and degree of exertion. #4, while mostly flat to gently rolling, is about 10 miles longer than #1 & 2, about the same distance as #3 plus two hills of about 400 feet each thrown in. This ride, #5, is slightly longer than #4 but, Guemes Is. roads roll up and down all around the island and you will be climbing a bit over 1000 feet.
Why you could/should do these rides
- You are a beginning rider who is new to Cascade Bicycle Club Free Group Rides but you have been doing some training and can handle around 1000 feet of climbing.
- You are seeking a scenic, stay-together, low-traffic ride out in the country.
- You may (like your ride leader) have built some base miles and are ready to go a bit longer and climb a bit more.
- Maybe you are planning on doing the Fall MS ride. We ride a portion of that route.
We will pass several potential water/food/potty locations and will stop if necessary.
Let's meet at the March Point Park and Ride and please be ready to ride at 9:30 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
This is a stay-together ride. However, riders may sometimes either fall behind or shoot ahead on hills. Nevertheless, these riders will be expected to re-group after their "break away" or "fall behind".
You must pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. Please un-register if you decide not to attend in order to free a space for another rider.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
The Guemes Is. ferry is $5 round trip. They take only plastic.
Cancellation: Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
Feel free to call me with any questions.
We hope you can join us!
