Free Group Ride
Wilmot to Redmond Town Center for Coffee
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville on a circa 28.8 mile route at a Steady pace (12-14 mph)! This is an eastside route merging moderate hill climbing with some fairly flat terrain using bike trails, bike lanes, and largely quiet neighborhood streets for most of the route.
Now that our Pacific Northwest Summer has finally arrived (as opposed to the Saharan summer experience we had earlier!), it's time to start (or continue) your summer recreational riding! This week we will continue with some new hills on our route to help justify that pastry or bagel you may want at our coffee/snack/water/restroom stop at Redmond Town Center. Leaving from Wilmot Gateway Park, we'll head westwardly toward Wayne Golf Course and 96th Ave NE/Waynita Way where we'll join part of the classic 7 Hills of Kirkland route up and over Kingsgate Hill. We end up riding a flat section to Redmond Town Center for our break at mile 12.5. After our 25 minute stop, we head back northward towards 124th where we will leave the trail to start our climb up Education Hill followed by a ride through the English Hill community leading to our final descent down Hollywood Hill to Wilmot Gateway Park. If you want to skip the second set of hills and leave the official ride, it is only a flat 7 mile return from Redmond Town Center to our starting location via the Sammamish River Trail.
Let's meet at the Wilmot Gateway Park by the Pergolas in the park at 0930 for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a planned departure after completion of the Safety Briefing. Please note that you must be a) pre-registered for this ride via the Cascade Bicycle Club website; and, 2) you must be present for the safety briefing at 0930, else you won't be able to ride with us.
We will climb and descend the major hills at our own pace and our goal will be to regroup frequently - this is a social ride after all! Faster riders are welcome but for them the ride becomes self-paced. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. We’ll stop for coffee/snacks/restrooms/water at multiple shops in Redmond Town Center at mile 12.5. (Please bring funds appropriate for your needs if you wish to purchase coffee or snack sounds )
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
