Scenic Rattlesnake Lake, Middle Fork Snoqualmie River loop from Snoqualmie
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Ride from Centennial Park in the city of Snoqualmie, through the city of North Bend, and climb up to Rattlesnake Lake. Then ride out to the trailhead at the end of the Middle Fork Road, traveling alongside the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River. After a break we travel back to Centennial Park. It is one of the most scenic rides in the area.
There is a challenging climb of about one mile with an average grade of 8 percent, with a small segment exceeding that gradient on the ride to Rattlesnake Lake. Ride the hills at your own pace and we will regroup at the top. We stop at Rattlesnake Lake for a restroom break and then ride on more level pavement through North Bend up the Middle Fork Road. The pavement is very smooth through out the route and has an average grade of about 1%. The Middle Fork Road runs along the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River and our destination is the Middle Fork Trailhead parking lot. At the trailhead we will take a break, a pit toilet is available but no water, and there is displayed a large map of the trails leading from the area. A ten minute walk offers exceptional views from a foot bridge spanning the river.
Route map and cue sheet and route gradient are found at the link below. If you want a cue sheet, please print and bring it along. Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats, and a plan for rescue should you have a serious mechanical failure. Cell service unlikely during parts of the route.
Bring snacks and a full large water bottle for yourself because we don't plan on stopping at a convenience store for supplies. Restrooms and water are available at the start at Centennial Park, a pit toilet is available and at the end of the Middle Fork Road, but no water. Meet on the Centennial Park sidewalk located between the parking lot and restrooms, I will be wearing a silver helmet and riding a black bike.
At 9:40 am we will go over the Cascade Bicycle Club's safety announcement, covid19 safety requirements for participation and introductions.
Have yourself and bike prepared to ride at 10:00 am.
Showers or unsafe conditions cancel the ride. If the ride is canceled a cancellation will be posted by 730 AM, and the ride leader will not be present at the start of the ride.
