Free Group Ride
Ride Up North, Far Up North #6 (repeat)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Same ride as last week.
Please be at Chuckanut Park and Ride and ready to ride by 9:45 when we'll have our pre-ride orientation; depart at 10:00
This ride is designated #6 in the RUN FUN (Ride Up North, Far Up North) series. RUN FUN rides #1-#3 are flat leisurely rides with minimal hills. As the series number increases, so does the length and degree of exertion. #4, while mostly flat to gently rolling, is about 10 miles longer than #1 & 2, about the same distance as #3 plus two hills of about 400 feet each thrown in; #5, is slightly longer than #4 but, Guemes Island roads roll up and down all around the island and you will be climbing a bit over 1000 feet. This ride, #6 in the series is a serious ride: 34 miles and 1,100 feet of climbing and you need to be in reasonable shape.
Why you could/should do these rides
- You are new to Cascade Bicycle Club Free Group Rides but you have been doing some training and can handle around 34 miles and 1100 feet of climbing.
- You are seeking a scenic, stay-together, low-traffic ride out in the country.
- You may (like your ride leader) have built some good base miles including climbing some hills at a reasonable pace, and are ready to go a bit longer and climb a bit more.
- Maybe you are planning on doing STP, RSVP or other multi-day rides. This is great prep for those.,
There is a restroom stop at Lake Samish swimming beach @ 16 miles.
This is a stay-together ride. However, riders may sometimes either fall behind or shoot ahead on hills. Nevertheless, these riders will be expected to re-group after their "break away" or "fall behind".
You must pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. Please un-register if you decide not to attend in order to free a space for another rider.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Cancellation: Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
Feel free to call me with any questions.
