Ride Up North, Far Up North #2: flat Snohomish route
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
This ride is designated #2 in the RUN FUN (RIDE UP NORTH, FAR UP NORTH) series. RUN FUN rides are flat leisurely rides. As the series number increases, so does the length and degree of exertion.
This ride is suitable for 4 types of riders: 1) beginning riders who are new to CBC rides; 2) those just seeking a really relaxing, scenic, stay-together ride out in the country; 3) those who have been training hard on other rides and are looking for some good "recovery" miles; and 4) those (like your ride leader) who are building base miles, strengthening joints, connective tissues, muscles and the cardio-vascular system in preparation for harder rides to come.
Tired of the traffic, inattentive drivers and exhaust fumes of the city? Join us north of Seattle. By riding up north, far up north on our RUN FUN rides, you will enjoy the rural views and low to zero traffic of our northwestern counties. Plus, you may pick up some cycling tips from an ex-coach. Ride with a former USA Cycling coach on a RUN FUN super-easy 17.8 miles on (mostly) rural roads largely along the shore of the Snohomish river. Sea lions, river otters, hawks and eagles can sometimes be spotted.
Let's meet in the Lowell Riverfront Park at 9:45 am for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10 AM.
Getting There: From I-5 on the southern edge of Everett, take 41st St. exit and head east on 41st St. Take your first right onto 3rd Ave and continue about 1.5 miles. Take a left onto Lenora St and you will see the a Lowell Riverfront Park parking area on the river on your left in a quarter mile.
Restrooms: Your ride leader is not aware of any restrooms in this park so be prepared before you hit the park. We will be riding through the west edge of Snohomish and if the pressure is building, we could find somewhere in town.
This is a stay-together ride however, riders may sometimes either fall behind or shoot ahead on hills. Nevertheless, these riders will be expected to re-group after their "break away" or "fall behind".
You must pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Cancellation Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
