Join us for a ride from East Lake Sammamish Trailhead in Redmond on a 39 mile route at Steady pace of 12-14 MPH!
This route leverages a combination of trails and mostly quiet (and scenic!) back roads on the Eastside. It begins by winding through Marymoor Park, where we may observe ospreys feeding their young. After climbing the 520 trail, we will head north past Bridle Trails and a pit stop at Grass Lawn Park. From there, we will wind down to the pedestrian crossing across 405 and views of Lake Washington, continuing through scenic Houghton and Medina with a lunch stop near Bellevue Downtown Park (water and restrooms available). We will make our way to I-90 trail and ride along the recently completed section of the Mountains to Sound Greenway through Eastgate. Finally after making our way through Lake Hills, we will drop back down to Lake Sammamish and retrace our steps through Marymoor Park. Bring a lunch to eat at Downtown Bellevue Park or money to purchase lunch at one of the many restaurants in the immediate area (Starbucks, Mod Pizza, Garlic Crush, etc).
Let's meet at the East Lake Sammamish Trailhead (behind Whole Foods in Redmond) at 9:45 am for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10 am.
This route is moderately hilly. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regrouping at the top of each hill and as needed to keep the group together.
Restrooms are available at the start. Please note there is no water at the trailhead (although Whole Foods is relatively close by in a pinch). We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 12, 23 and 30. For those who have brought lunch, we will eat at Bellevue Downtown Park. Those who wish to purchase lunch/coffee can do so at one of the many restaurants nearby. We will finalize lunch plan based on participants input at the start.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
