FRUMPS: Golden Gardens, Mercer Island, and Interlaken Park

Join us for a ride from Lower Woodland Park in Seattle on a 46-mile route at a steady pace (12-14 mph on flats)!

On this urban ride we will pass marinas on Puget Sound at Golden Gardens Beach, cross over Lake Washington on the 520 bridge, skirt the scenic edges of Mercer Island, cross the big lake again on the I-90 bridge, meander through Interlaken Park, and view Portage Bay from the University Bridge. We will also ride through lots of city neighborhoods, using some of the healthy streets with limited car traffic. Oh, and there will be a lunch stop at Hap's Burgers and Taps on Mercer Island. You might want a hand-dipped milkshake right about the time we get there.

Let's meet at the parking lot by Softball Field #6 in Lower Woodland Park at 9:45 a.m. for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10 a.m.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup as needed after hills or traffic lights.

Restrooms but no water are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 20. Our lunch stop is at mile 35.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Bring enough water and food to sustain you until our lunch stop. (The menu is linked below, so you can plan what food you may want to bring.) Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
