Join us for a ride from Sand Point Sail Dock on a 26.6 mile route at a Moderate speed of 14-16 on the flats!
Leading from our tandem we look forward to showing you some of our favorite bits of North Seattle. This route has segments of unpaved roads and trails. None of these are difficult and should be ridable on a road bike with a bit of caution. On parts of the route it will be necessary to go very slow and possibly walk a bit due to pedestrians and park settings. Safety first. Highlights include Sand Point Country Club, Meadowbrook Pond, Ravenna Ravine, Green Lake, Woodland Park, a troll, Gasworks Park, Union Bay Natural Area, Laurelhurst Park, Windermere, and Magnuson Park waterfront.
Let's meet at the Sand Point Sail dock just North of Cascade bike club office at 5:45 for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 6:00.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles Gas Works Park about mile 15. Bring lights, a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Also, if able, review and download the route before the ride posted in the link below.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
