Free Group Ride
TREATS: Machias-Everett Loop
Event has already happened.
Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please click the red "Cancel My Registration" button above so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Join us for the first TREATS ride in over a year. This will be a steady paced 29.4 mile ride starting at Machias Station just north of Snohomish. From Machias Station we will head south on the Centennial Trail to Snohomish then along the SW bank of the Snohomish River to Everett. The route back to Machias Station is across the Route 2 trestle then along the NE side of the river, through Snohomish and back to the Centennial Trail. The ride is on mostly flat rural roads but there are a few hills which everyone can climb at their own pace.
Water and restrooms are available at the start, at Lowell Park in Everett (mile 12.6), and on First Street in Snohomish (miles 5.8 and 23.6). We will pause at Lowell Park to use the facilities and partake of whatever refreshment you bring. Unfortunately, during the COVID era, the Snohomish Bakery is not open on Tuesdays.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ride to hear the safety (SMART) briefing. Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
