Free Group Ride
Stinky Spoke + Tuscany (Gravel or MTB)
Event has already happened.
Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please click the red "Cancel My Registration" button above so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Join us for a ride from Northshore Athletic field parking lot on a 22 mile route at Brisk Effort!
The "Stinky Spoke Poker Run" is a fundraiser ride during one of the colder stinky weather days of the year late January. We will do this route and add on the trails around the Tuscany neighborhood. Thrilla is the name of the same route CCW direction. There is a large amount of horse poop on the trails as well. Our pace is spirited on the high end of the brisk pace. We roll on the flats about 18 mph with our knobby tires. The total time without any mechanicals is about 1 hour 50 minutes. We will be in the woods in the dark. I highly recommend three light sources. A helmet light, a handlebar light, and a tail light. Helmet and handlebar lights should add up to at least 800 lumen.
Let's meet at the Northshore Athletic Fields at 6:15 for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 6:30.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup occasionally. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Porta Potty is available at the start.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case even if you run tubeless.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
