A Steady 40-mile Ride from Renton to Alki

Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please click the red "Cancel My Registration" button above so that an additional spot will be made available to another.

Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.

We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.

This is a relaxed ride with an experienced ride leader to grow your confidence with group riding.  The route consists of trails and bike-friendly streets. We will start and finish at Burnett Linear Park in downtown Renton located along Burnett Ave S between S. 4th and S 5th St. The route takes us along the Green River and Duwamish Trails to South Park to our mid-point coffee break at Starbucks at Alki beach (mile19).  We’ll return via same route.The ride will take about 4 hours including rest stops.

Stops: Foster Links Golf Course (mile 6-brief restroom stop), and Alki Starbucks (mile 19) for 20 minutes for coffee and pastries.

"Steady Pace" is 12-14 mph on flat surface without any headwind. We will go slower on hills and with a headwind and faster going downhill. Please arrive 20 minutes before the published start time so that we can roll out on-time at 9:30 a.m.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
