Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please unregister for this ride so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Join us for a ride from Ron Regis Park on a 40.4 mile route at Moderate (14-16 MPH)!
This is a fun route with an early stop at Ristrettos Coffee & Wine at mile 12.7 , slight bit of climbing (1489') following by mostly downhill mixed with gentle slopes. We conclude with a nice downhill of Cedar Grove and flat trail ride back to start. For those of you who have ridden with me in the past this is one of my new for 2021 routes!
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Fenders: If the riding surfaces are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry.
Ride start: Let's meet at the Ron Regis Park at 9:45 AM for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10:00 AM.. Restrooms are available.
Cue sheets - None, stay together ride and be prepared if you have a mechanical problem, e.g. a flat tire.
Weather cancellation: - Showers or more severe weather will cancel the ride. Ice, frost/snow or sub-freezing temperatures that make driving to the start unwise or hazardous also will cancel. If the weather looks iffy, check here before leaving for the ride. Ride cancellation will be announced in the comments section at least two hours before start time and the ride leader(s) will not be at the start.
