Lower Woodland Park to Medina
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please click the red "Cancel My Registration" button above so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Join us for a ride from Lower Woodland Park on a 19 mile route at steady (12-14mph)
This is a nearly flat ride on the wide, comfortable 520 trail across Lake Washington then through Medina on mostly quiet roads. We will make a short stop at Medina Park. Bathrooms were open when I was there in December.
Let's meet at the Lower Woodland Park athletic fields at 9:40 for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10:00, sharp! Please plan to be present for the safety briefing. It is not optional.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together/regroup at tops of hills and major intersections. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms (port-a-potties) are available at the start. We will stop along the way at mile 9, Medina Park. Bring a snack if you will need one at that point.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, and have a plan for getting home in the event of a major mechanical problem. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions (including high winds) or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
