Free Group Ride
Rain or "Shine"/Hills Between Federal Way and Kent w/ Coffee
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please unregister for this ride so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Join us for a ride from the BPA Trail Head on a 41 mile route at a moderate pace of 14-16MPH!
LIGHTS REQUIRED. A front headlight (visible at 500ft) and a red rear reflector are required by state law. A red tail light and reflective clothing are recommended. Check your lights before the ride.
That's right, you heard it! If we have rain or "shine" (it is after dark...) we are riding!
Our route will consist of the few of many hills that both Federal Way and Kent have. The ride leader will announce when a hill is approaching so that riders have enough time to get into the right gear!
Let's meet at the BPA Trail Head at 5:45 pm to get ready and to listen to our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 6pm.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are not available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 15 and our coffee stop at around mile 30 (Panera Bread). Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
