Renton to Madison Park Coffee Ride

Please note: During COVID-19 Phases 1.5 and 2, all Free Group Rides are limited to six total participants: the Ride Leader and five others. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please unregister for this ride so that an additional spot will be made available to another.

Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer,  disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.

This is a relaxed ride with an experienced ride leader to grow your confidence with group riding.  The route consists of trails and bike-friendly streets. Everyone will ride the hills at their own pace and we always regroup at the top and before any turns so you need not be concerned about being left behind.  We will start and finish at Old Renton City Hall at 200 Mill Ave S, Renton and ride a steady pace to Kennydale, across Mercer Island and the I-90 bridge for a coffee stop at Starbucks at Madison Park and return via Leschi, Seward Park and Rainier Ave S.  The ride will take about 3.5 hours including rest stops.

Stops: Gene Coulon Park (mile 2-brief restroom stop), Leschi Starbucks (mile 19) - 20 minutes for coffee and pastries

"Steady Pace" is 12-14 mph on flat surface without any headwind. We will go slower on hills and with a headwind and faster going downhill.  You should dress appropriately for the weather and all you need is a working bike and a helmet. Please arrive 20 minutes before the published start time to ready your bike, check in and participate in the safety and ride briefing. 

Please RSVP by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page.  Then put a checkmark in the waiver release box, complete the Emergency Contact Number, and click on Save.  By doing this you will save time at the ride start.  Note that this RSVP requires a Cascade Bicycle Club account.

Weather - Showers or more severe weather will cancel the ride.  Ride cancellation will be announced below and in the comments section of the Cascade calendar entry at least two hours before start time and the ride leaders will not be at the start.  If you have questions, please contact the Ride Leader.
