Enumclaw - Black Diamond - Green River Gorge

This ride starts in the town of Enumclaw with flat roads and a few rollers.  At mile 11.4 we will descend down a steep hill (14% grade).  Once we are down on the valley floor we immediately begin climbing back up to the Black Diamond Plateau on a mile long 9-12% hill.  At the top we will continue for another 2-3 miles to the town of Black Diamond and our rest stop at the Famous Black Diamond Bakery.  After a 15-20 minute rest stop we get to, oh yes, climb again.  This climb is about a mile long to the hill's crest before we descend to the Gorge.  The steepest part of the climb has a grade between 7-8%.  On all hills we will climb at our own pace.  The hills will divide us between strong hill climbers and not so strong hill climbers but we will re-group after all the big climbs.  After a quick stop at the Green River Gorge to take in the view and take some pictures we will once again use our climbing legs to ascend out of the gorge and return to Enumclaw.  Don't pass up this opportunity to see some beautiful back country sites because of a few steep hills.  Yes, you will have your work cut out for you on the steep climbs but the views are well worth the effort.  And after our last climb it is mostly a flat return with a few remaining rollers back to the town of Enumclaw.  

Please meet at the QFC parking lot on the north end along Stevenson Ave.  Bathrooms are available inside the QFC.

Arrive 20 minutes early so you have time to ready your bike, sign the ride waiver, and listen to the Cascade SMART Safety talk.

If ride is cancelled due to weather it will be posted here in comments by 8:00am and ride leader will not be at the start.

Come prepared to fix flats and have a plan for dealing with mechanical issues.  Generally, the group will not wait for flats/mechanical issues so make sure you know the route or have printed a CUE sheet.

Please register for the ride by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page, click the waiver release box, complete the Emergency Contact Number, and click on Save.  By doing this you will save time at the ride start. If you are unable to attend you do not need to "un-register."
