FRUMPS -- From West Seattle to Mercer Island for Lunch
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
“From West Seattle to Mercer Island for Lunch” will take us on the bike path over the Duwamish Waterway, through Sodo’s industrial-commercial district, and then onto the bike path next to I-90 across Lake Washington to Mercer Island. After a short rest stop on the Mercer Island “lid,” we will circle the island in the clockwise direction then pause for lunch at the New Seasons Market. Following lunch, we will return to the start.
The ride begins at Jack Block Park. Parking, restrooms and water are available at the park. The park can also be reached by public transportation – take the King County Water Taxi to West Seattle (the park is on Harbor Avenue, to the south of the Water Taxi dock), or put your bike on the Rapid Ride “C” bus and use the first stop in West Seattle, Branford Street, then ride north approximately one mile to the start. We will leave the park at 10:00 a.m. Plan to arrive 20 minutes early so we can have time to do introductions and the safety briefing and start on time.
This is a social ride, and we will regroup frequently so that no one is left behind. The pace is “steady,” which means riders should be comfortable with riding 12-14 mph on a flat road without headwind. Our average speed for this ride, given stops and starts and hills, will probably be less than the advertised pace.
Steady rain cancels. If a cancellation is necessary, ride leader will post a notice in the comments section two hours prior to the start. In the event of cancellation, ride leader will not be at the start.
