South End Frolic with a Kick

Join us for a ride from Auburn on a 65 mile route at a steady pace of 12-14pmh on flat with no wind!

This is a south lake loop with a twist.  We will start from Auburn and have a flat route along trails to the bottom of Lake Washington.  We will then do the south lake loop of Lake Washington in a clockwise direction.  This will be a mix of side roads, trails, and busy streets with a couple hills to warm us up.  Then once back in Renton we will head out the Cedar River trail for a few miles getting ready for the big climb out of the valley.  This is a decently long climb up onto the ridge.  We will take this at our own paces and meet at the top.  This is the big challenge of the day but once we are up top we will traverse the ridge along the Soos Creek Trail.  We will then follow the back roads of Kent and Auburn until we drop back down into Auburn.  Nothing like ending a ride with a nice long downhill!  

Let's meet at the Regal Cinemas Parking Lot (Back Corner near Walmart) at 8:40am for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 9:00am.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together for most of the route and regroup as necessary at the top of the longer hills. 

Restrooms are available at the start inside of the Walmart. Please use restrooms at the start since the first restroom stop is not available until mile 19.  We will then stop along the way for restrooms at about every 10 miles after the first stretch.  We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at Einstein Bagels at mile 28.  This will be are main stop for food and hot beverages.  Please bring snacks and water for along the route.  Since this is a longer route, please be prepared with extra snacks.

You are encouraged to pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. There is no need to unregister if you decide not to ride.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. If the roads are wet fenders are greatly appreciated and proper attire is necessary (rain jacket, layers, gloves, etc.).

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
