Warm-up for Climbing Everywhere in Winter (CHEW) #3
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
These Sunday rides out of Ash Way Park & Ride lead up to the start of the CHEW (Climbing Hills Everywhere in Winter) series, which begins in the new year. To wrap up this informal series, the distance increases this week, but the climbing backs off a bit to more closely match the first CHEW ride. You may want to look over today's ride profile available through the RWGPS link below to be sure this route is for you.
Please be at Ash Way Park & Ride 20 minutes before the start time in order to check in with the Ride Leader and to hear the pre-ride safety briefing before we roll out at 9:30 a.m.
This is a Moderate paced ride, which means we will be riding 14 to 16 mph on the flats. Riders are welcome to climb and descend hills at their own paces and we will regroup occasionally as needed.
There are no restrooms or water at the Ash Way Park & Ride. We will make a bathroom stop at Hague Homestead Park at 7.5 miles. Drinking water may not be available at the park, so come prepared with water/hydration mix for the ride.
You are encouraged to pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. There is no need to unregister if you decide not to ride.
While this is a group ride, please, be prepared to deal with flats or other mechanical issues on your own; the group will not wait. Having a cell phone to call for a ride is a good idea. Also, you should download the route below to your GPS and/or print out a cue sheet.
If the roads are wet, please, have long fenders on your bike. If you choose to ride without fenders, you may be asked to ride at the back of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours before the start and Ride Leader will not be at the start location.
