Free Group Ride
CANCELED Coffee on the Rocks [Gravel]
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
This is a social ride for those who are looking for a Brisk pace and to get off the roads for a bit. The ride is mostly gravel. Although a road bike might work, I would encourage at least a 32 mm tire width minimum.
None of the trails are technical, except for a short section of about 100 feet that most people will probably walk. There is a second steep section as we climb back to Redmond that may also have to be walked. There will likely be some modifications to the posted route because of construction; one of those is a detour onto 203 briefly, which is a heavily trafficked road and may make some people uncomfortable. Please, check back in the Comments section on Saturday evening to see if the route has been revised.
The pace will be social (allow for talking) for those who normally ride in the Brisk pace or faster. If you typically ride a Moderate pace, this ride will be too fast.
Let's meet at the East Lake Sammamish Trailhead parking lot off NE 70th St. at 9:20 a.m. for check-in and our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 9:30 a.m. We won't wait for you if you're late or you miss the safety briefing.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together but regroup at the top of hills. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 mph).
Port-a-lets are available at the start, but drinking water is not available; please, come prepared. We will stop for coffee/snacks at Sandy's Espresso in Carnation at mile 25.
You are encouraged to pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. There is no need to unregister if you decide not to ride.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. We will wait for flats, but for serious bike issues (i.e. broken derailleur), we ask that you come prepared to have a backup ride or be able to call for assistance. We'll be on gravel paths/trails for most of trip, but they are all accessible by car in case of an emergency.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours before the start and Ride Leader will not be at the start location.
