Grandpa's Thanksgiving Day Ride
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Thanksgiving plans fell through? No family in town? Newcomer to Seattle? Join "Gramps" (and Gramma) for a ride from Machias Station Trailhead on the Centennial Trail to a mid-day Thanksgiving repast in Arlington. Then work off that second piece of pie on the ride back to the start.
"Through the woods"? Yes, in the first part of the ride. "Over the river"? Eventually, of course. "Grandpa's house"? No, lunch is not at Grandpa's house, but at Denny's. It's an "on your own" deal, but all of the traditional fixings will be available.
Total distance will be 43 miles; the pace will be steady (12-14 mph). In order to ride "Steady," you should be comfortable riding at 12 to 14 mph on a flat stretch with no headwind.
We'll plan to meet at the Machias Station on the Centennial Trail at 9:45 a.m. Restrooms and water are available at the start. Timely arrival will permit us to do introductions and the pre-ride S.M.A.R.T. talk and start on time.
You are encouraged to pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. There is no need to unregister, should you receive a last-minute Thanksgiving invitation, or decide not to ride for other reasons.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above, or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
