Saturday Spin around Tacoma

Ride past many of the sights of Tacoma: Museum of Glass, Thea Foss Waterway, Ruston Way, Wilson Way Bridge, Point Defiance Park, University of Puget Sound, Wright Park, McMenamins Elks Temple, Washington History Museum and University of Washington (Tacoma). Short detour around mile 20 takes us to 6th Avenue where we will stop at ice cream or other food if the group wants. Ice Cream Social offers a 20% discount for riders with a Bicycle Benefits sticker. We're going to meet at the plaza in front of the parking structure across from Freighthouse Square at 9:45 am for pre-ride introductions and short safety talk. Sound Transit bus 594 is on the half hour on week-ends and it drops riders off on the lower side of the parking structure. (Puyallup Avenue).   

There are some hills on this ride -we'll take them at our own paces and regroup at the top. We will also regroup before turns if we get spread out. Pace is moderate, defined as 14 to 16 miles per hour on flat terrain with no wind.  New riders welcome!  Click on  "read our newcomer information" above. Register for the ride by clicking the red "register now" button. Basic memberships are now FREE, so please set up an account if you don't already have one. Thank you for doing  this beforehand -  riders who register on-line do not have to sign the waiver in person at the ride start and their information is already written clearly for me. Don't worry about it if you register and end up not being able to join us. We will start the ride at 10 am and will look forward to seeing you on a future ride if you are not there. 

Helmets are required for all participants on Cascade Free Group rides. Some other good things to have: WATER, a charged cell phone, a credit card and/or some cash, your ID, supplies to fix a flat (spare tube, pump, tire levers) snacks, fenders on your bike if roads are wet, front and back lights, a bike lock.

Cancellation Policy: Steady rain cancels. If the ride is canceled, the cancelation will be posted in the comments section below before 8:00 am and ride leader will not be at the start.
