Tour de Brunch Rides Again - November Stage (attempting to do this before the "pumpkin henry's" from Rattle Dem Bones Halloween Bike Ride get washed away)
Stage #18 : This is a recap/variation of the recent Rattle Dem Bones Monster Hill Challenge Ride in Gig Harbor. The route, going north to Olalla and returning along Burley Lagoon, is particularly lovely this time of year. Kelly's cafe in downtown Gig Harbor has re-opened under new ownership. The ride will start and end there, with optional post ride brunch. Please be at the start at 8:45 for introductions and brief safety talk. Route on Ride with GPS linked below.
Pace is moderate - expecting riders to be able to sustain a speed of 14 to 16 mile per hour on flat, windless terrain for three to four hours. This ride has some good hills - we will take them at our own paces and regroup after hills / before turns if we get spread out. Paces tend to vary with climbs and descents. Faster riders are welcome to go ahead and the group will wait for slower riders, within reason. Helmets are required for all participants on Cascade Free Group rides. Some other good things to have: a charged cell phone, ID, water and snacks, supplies to fix a flat (spare tube, pump, tire levers) fenders on your bike if roads are wet, front and back lights. Bring a credit card and/or cash, especially if you are staying for brunch. Also, bring a bike lock (also, especially if you are staying for brunch).
For the sake of clarify and time saving at the start, please register for the ride by clicking the red "Register Now" button at the top. Basic Cascade Bicycle Club memberships are now FREE - so become a basic member if you do not already have an account (or be sure to show up at 8:45 so you can fill in and sign the waiver before we ride at 9:00).
Cancellation Policy: Steady rain cancels. If the ride is canceled, the cancellation will be posted in the comments section below before 7:00 am and ride leader will not be at the start.
What to Know Before You Go
- Advance registration required. Cancel if unable to attend, to open space for others.
- Must be present at safety briefing to participate.
- Helmets required.
- Riders under 18 years old require parental consent & approval from the Ride Leader.
