October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we are spreading the news by hosting the 2nd Pedal In Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness Women's Ride. Ladies let's get some attention for the cause by getting bedecked and bedazzled in pink! Wear the pink jersey or scarf, cape, tutu or wig, and let's get people to think about saving the tatas and lives!
If you are looking for a welcoming group of women who are here to encourage each other while having fun and developing new friendships, then this is the group for you! This ride is for anyone who self identifies as a woman. We invite all women to experience the fun of getting out on your bike with other like-minded women, get in some exercise and good conversation, while enjoying the day with other ladies who share the passion of cycling. This is a group ride for the women who are looking for a positive, fun, and encouraging group. If it's your first group ride, we welcome you and would love to have your join us!
Route: The route starts at Trek Redmond and takes us on a counterclockwise trip around Lake Sammamish. Please make sure you are comfortable with the posted pace. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your ride leader.
RSVP: Please RSVP by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page to save time at ride start. Please register at least 2 hours prior to the ride. You can always register at the ride start if you miss the cut-off. If you sign up using e-waiver but decide not to ride, no worries, and we'll see you next time. If you are not a member of Cascade, please sign up for a free account and register so that we can have adequate assistance for the group.Thank you!
PACE: The listed pace is based on the flats, with no headwind, and at your own pace up hills. We will regroup at the top of hills. Ladies, you don't have to be a fast climber to join in this group, this is not a race! We are here to encourage and empower one another to get stronger. As long as you are comfortable with the posted pace on the flats, don't worry about the rest. We will wait at the top of climbs to give all riders a chance to catch a breath before continuing. When using designated bicycle trails we will observe the posted speed limit.
START LOCATION & PARKING: Ride starts at Trek Redmond. There is free on street parking as well as free parking on weekends at the Redmond Central Connector Parking lot. Please avoid the spaces in the Trek parking lot so they can be used for their customers.
PLANNED STOPS: There is no formal food stop on this ride so plan to bring adequate water/ fuel as needed. We will have a social gathering at Trek Redmond after the ride for all!
MECHANICALS: Group will stop for flats. Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats, and a plan, i.e. Orca card, a friend or Uber for rescue should you have a serious mechanical failure.
RECOMMENDED: Mirrors and lights, both head lights and tail lights, are highly recommended by the ride leader to keep yourself and your riding buddies safe and seen.
RIDE CANCELLATION: In the event of a weather cancellation a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride start and ride leader will not be at the ride start location.
