Tacoma Pipeline Exploration

Join us for a ride that will take us from Heritage Recreation Center, past Lincoln High & Holy Rosary Church, over to the Tacoma Dome and McKinley Park, and finally along the newly paved section of the Pipeline Trail route as we do some urban exploration. There biggest hill climb will come at about the halfway point as we climb out of Tacoma past the Dome and McKinley Park.  There will also be "roller" hills the first few and last few miles of the route.  We will also stop for 15-20 minutes at the 12 mile mark at the Starbucks on the corner of G St & 38th St.  If driving to the start, please park in the NE corner of the Heritage Rec Center parking lot off 128th St.

Please register for the ride using the red "Register Now" button at the top of this page.  Registration is not mandatory but it allows us to print the rider list beforehand and helps us save time at the ride start.  On-line registration closes the night before, and if you decide to ride after that we will have a waiver sheet for you to sign manually.   

If you are a new rider, we are very happy to have you with us.  Please read the newcomer link at the top of the page, and keep in mind that a helmet is required on all Cascade rides.  Also, riders should be able to sustain the pace (between 12-14mph on flat terrain), carry nutrition/water, and have the know-how and equipment to fix a flat tire.  Everyone should carry a phone to call for assistance if needed. Riders will be at their own pace going uphill and downhill, we will regroup after climbs and at major intersections.  Fenders strongly encouraged if the forecast has a chance of rain, otherwise riders creating rooster tails may be asked to ride at the back.  On paved trail portions, we will be slowing down when passing pedestrians.

Arrive at least 20 minutes early so that you can get yourself ready, sign the waiver, and listen to the S.M.A.R.T. briefing. This allows us to have an on-time departure.

Cancellation Policy: If needed, a weather cancellation will be posted two hours prior in the Comments section, below, and the ride leader will not be at the start. Heavy showers, high winds, snow/ice or unhealthy air quality will cancel.  Please check here before leaving for the ride.
