Car-less Commutes (Seattle -> Eastside)

Join us for a ride from Lake Union Park (47°37'34.0"N 122°20'18.3"W) on a 18.5 mile, one way route. We will ride at a brisk-level of effort (16-18mph) up the hills, but keep our speed on the flats limited to 15mph (most of this route is on multi-use path).

Let's make commuting more fun by doing it together! This is a one way route starting at Lake Union and going to approximately where I live in Redmond. I'm happy to have people join in along the way rather than meet at the start - please just make it clear where we should find you along the way in the comments. Feel free to also peel off when you're near your home too - the goal of this is to encourage people to commute instead of driving and to make it fun. 

Let's meet at the southwest corner of Lake Union, in the parking lot near the Terry Ave Streetcar stop (or along the route) at 5:20 p.m. or our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 5:30. 

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup at the top of hills but mostly stay together. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH), which note, is most of our route.

Restrooms are not available at the start. We will not be stopping for restrooms along the way but we may have a group that wants to get dinner at the end. 

You are encouraged to pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. There is no need to unregister if you decide not to ride, but please notify us in the comments if we were supposed to pick you up along the way. 

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
