Free Group Ride
Eastside Rail Corridor Policy Ride: Explore the Eastrail
Event has already happened.
As part of the July 20th "Go Eastrail" event, Cascade is hosting a free group ride to showcase to the community some of the awesome elements of the Eastrail (formerly known as the Eastside Rail Corridor), and to understand the transformation ahead. This policy ride will encompass 12-17 miles of trail and on-road connections through Redmond, Kirkland, Bellevue, including trails owned by King County and Sound Transit.
This is a policy ride so we will be stopping somewhat frequently to discuss features of the trail and surrounding areas. We will wait at major intersections and hills to regroup. Please bring snacks and water for nutrition and hydration along the way. Please come with the equipment and know-how to take care of your own flats and mechanicals, and a plan for getting back to the start if your bike won't take you there (ORCA card or someone to call). If you have a problem the group will stop briefly to make sure you will be OK on your own, but we will not wait for repairs to be completed.
Starting time and location: Ride starts at 11:00 am at Redmond Central Connector Park, where there is a restroom & water.
Cancellation: We'll ride rain or shine. Forecast for unsafe riding conditions will be cause for cancellation, in which case the ride leader will not be at the start and the cancellation will be posted in comments below, at least 2 hours before the start.
Safety talk and on time-departure: Please be at the start and ready to ride at least 15 minutes prior to ride start time, to participate in the pre-ride briefing and safety talk. Ride rolls out at 11:00. Parking is located on the northeast corner of Bear Creek Parkway and Leary Way.
Pre-registration: Please register at least two hours in advance by clicking the red "Register Now" button at the top of this page, to save time at the start (and enable the leader to email you in case of changes/cancellation). You'll need to open a "basic" Cascade Bicycle Club account (at no charge) to pre-register. You don't need to un-register if you can't make it to the ride. If you are unable to pre-register in time, you can sign up at the start.
Hope you can join us!
