Gravel Thorp to Cle Elum on the Palouse to Cascades Trail

Join us for a ride from Thorp on a 35.5 mile route at Brisk Effort 15-17 on Gravel and back roads !

The first part of the ride is trail that often has fierce headwinds. Once we get into the valley we are mostly sheltered from the wind and ride next to the Yakima River. We go through two tunnels. The first tunnel is very short and no lights are needed. The second tunnel is about 1/4 mile long on a curve and you will need a light to navigate. The average grade is .3% up to Cle Elum. After lunch we will take some lightly traveled back roads back to Thorp. A nice tailwind is common in this direction.

Let's meet at the Thorp Mill Museum and Thorp Mill Town Historical Preservation Society at 10:15 for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10:30am.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup occasionally at turns and tunnels.

Restrooms are not available at the start for the museum is not yet open. The first opportunity will be at a pit toilet at Ponderosa Campground Mile 10 then at Cle Elum, Smokey's Bar-B-Que lunch stop.

You are encouraged to pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. There is no need to unregister if you decide not to ride.

Bring the following:

Spare tube and tools to fix a flat

Headlight

Lock and money for lunch

Recommend at least 28mm tires

Electric assist bikes are not allowed on Cascade Brisk rides

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
