This is a Women's Ride. If you are looking for a welcoming group of women who are here to encourage each other while having fun and developing new friendships, then this is the group for you! Your ride leader, Juli Zalud, is a Trek Women's Advocate and invites anyone who self-identifies as a woman (regardless of the bike brand you ride) to experience the fun of getting out on your bike with other like-minded women, get some exercise and good conversation while enjoying the time with other ladies who share the passion of cycling. This is a group ride for any woman who is looking for a positive, fun, and inspiring group. If it's your first group ride, we welcome you and would love to have your join us! While no one will be turned away from participation in a Cascade Free Group Ride, this ride is intended to create a safe and welcoming space for women.
CHECK-IN TIME: All riders must be ready 15 minutes before the ride start to check in and hear the SMART talk/route info.
RSVP: Please RSVP by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page to save time at ride start.
PACE/ELEVATION: The listed pace is based on the flats, with no headwind, and at your own pace up hills. We will regroup at the top of hills. Ladies, you don't have to be a fast climber to join in this group, this is not a race! We are here to encourage and empower one another to become our best, confident selves. The amount of climbing is eased by being in the company of other women who are up for a challenge who energize each other. As long as you are comfortable with the posted pace on the flats, don't worry about the rest. We will wait at the top of climbs to give all riders a chance to catch a breath before continuing. When using designated bicycle trails we will observe the posted speed limit. If you have any personal concerns about the pace or climbing please email Juli at the email address listed. YOU CAN DO THIS!
PARKING/RESTROOMS: There are restrooms and free parking at Brier Park.
PLANNED STOPS: There will be a brief restroom break at mile 19.9. Please bring nutrition with you as there is no planned stop for food.
MECHANICALS: Group will stop for flats. Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats, and a plan ie: Orca card, or a friend/Uber to call you have a more serious mechanical failure or choose to not repair your flat roadside.
RECOMMENDED/REQUIRED: Head and tail lights recommended for safety. Mirrors are highly recommended by the ride leader to keep yourself and your riding buddies safe and seen. Fenders and buddy flaps are appreciated if rain is in the forecast.
RIDE CANCELLATION: In the event of a weather cancellation a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride start and ride leader will not be at the ride start location.
