Free Group Ride
2019 South Lake Loop w/Mercer Island
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
This is the classic South Lake Washington Loop with a spin around much of Mercer Island.
Starting at Old Renton City Hall we'll ride north through Renton and along Lake Washington using a mix of roads and trails. In Bellevue we'll cut through the slough and then cross the smaller I-90 bridge to begin our clockwise ride around Mercer Island. There will be a rest/bathroom break before we cross the I-90 floating bridge. Once in Seattle we'll stop for a scenic group photo and then head down to Seward Park along beautiful Lake Washington Boulevard. Our climb out of Seward Park will take us along Rainier Avenue and back to our start. Restrooms and water are available at the park adjacent to our start point.
Ride Notes: All riders should bring ID; spare tube, tools, patch kit, pump, and skills to fix flats; a phone and a plan for rescue if your bike fails; and snacks and water. Waiting for mechanical issues will be at the discretion of the ride leader. It’s sprint, so please dress appropriately and use fenders with long mudflaps on your bike if there are wet roads. Please arrive at least 20 minutes early (9:40 a.m.) to get yourself ready, listen to the safety briefing and sign or check the waiver. 10:00 a.m. is roll-out time!
Pre-registering online: If you have a Cascade account, you can pre-register for this ride online by clicking on the Register button at the top of this page and entering your information. Pre-registering saves time at the beginning the ride and provides legible emergency contact information. If you cannot make the ride, you do not need to un-register. Riders without a Cascade account can register at the ride start.
Ride Cancellation: In addition to occasional showers, ice/snow and any other hazardous conditions will cancel a ride. If a ride is canceled, a notice will be posted here, in the comments section below, by 8:00 a.m. on the day of the ride. If that notice is posted, the ride leader will not be at the start.
Please review the Comments Section before the morning of the ride for any final updates. Route may be updated there as well as weather updates and cancellations.
