Don't space out: Come ride with us on a 50-mile, true vigorous paced (about 19mph on flat ground) clockwise loop of Lake Washington. Cascade Advanced Training Series at Magnuson (CATS-m) is designed to help you get ready for Flying Wheels, Seattle to Portland in one day (1-day STP), Ride from Seattle to Vancouver and Party (RSVP) and other long distance cycling events you put your mind to while enjoying scenery and company.
Let's meet in the Magnuson Park W6 parking lot (east of the tennis center) at 0845 for a pre-ride brief, then rolling at 0900. Restrooms available at the start. Today's route has two rest stops, at miles 19 and 37, but no food available at either, so each rider should carry his/her own water and snacks from the start. Every rider is also expected to have tubes/tools and be able to fix a flat or other minor mechanicals. Fenders appreciated if the roads are wet.
Each rider should be able to sustain the level of effort to maintain the advertised pace without pace-lining or drafting. Be ready to do some work on the front! If you become slower towards the end of the ride, Brisk-paced groups will be following us along the same route. Recommend uploading the route info to your GPS device/smartphone or print a cue sheet. Carrying an ORCA card is always a good back-up plan.
Even though it's not a requirement, we appreciate you registering and signing the e-waiver by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. There's no need to un-register if you decide not to ride.
In addition to steady rain, any other hazardous conditions will cancel a ride. If a ride is canceled due to weather or other hazardous conditions, a note will be posted in the comments below no later than two hours prior to the ride start and the ride leader(s) will not be waiting at the start.
Hope you can join us.
