Tour de Brunch Rides Again #9: Gig Harbor - Net Shed No. 9
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Tour de Brunch Rides Again! This is the January ride in a series of rides, generally on the last Sunday of each month, followed by brunch, in the Tacoma / Gig Harbor area. Credit for this series to Doug Pfeffer, who got me hooked on his Tour de Brunch series last year.
Ride #9 : Brunch at Net Shed No. 9 is strong motivation to come out and climb some hills in the Gig Harbor area - this will be good training for Chilly Hilly! We'll meet at 8:45am in heart of the historic waterfront for introductions and a brief safety talk. Street parking is available and there is a washroom at the park closeby. At 9, we'll go around the harbor and towards Olalla, then back to town via Cushman Trail and some city streets. Links to route on Ride with GPS and Net Shed No. 9 home page below.
Note: The start location is on the water side below Harborview Drive, making it easy to miss. Coming from the the three way stop at the bottom of Pioneer Street, it's just past Rosedale Street (Skansie Brothers' Park/Jersich Dock) and before Dorotich Street (Millville Pizza/ Susanne's Bakery).
Pace is moderate - defined at 14-16 miles per hour on flat windless terrain. We will regroup after hills. Ride is more social than training - slightly slower riders and faster riders who can pace down a bit are welcome. Please send a message or post a comment if you are unsure if this is a good ride for you or if you have any other questions.
Helmets are required for all participants on Cascade Free Group rides. Some other good things to have: a charged cell phone, ID, water and snacks, supplies to fix a flat (spare tube, pump, tire levers) fenders on your bike if roads are wet, front and back lights. Bring a credit card and/or cash, especially if you are staying for brunch. A lock for your bike is also a good idea.
