MUMPS: Do The Lake CCW (Brisk)
Event has already happened.
MUMPS will be riding lake loops out of Log Boom Park in Kenmore this winter, alternating CW and CCW routes. This week it's CCW (counterclockwise), per MUMPS tradition.
There is a four hour parking restriction at Log Boom Park; if you are concerned it might be enforced you can park nearby on NE 175th.
It's our goal to have both Brisk and Moderate MUMPS most Mondays listed here as separate rides.
Join us for all or part of the route. Start at Log Boom Park or meet us at Seward Park (however, please be aware that the route may be shortened to cross the lake on the 520 trail or I-90 trail, depending on weather and mood of the group, in which case we won't make it to Seward).
We will try to stay together; riders who might find this pace/course challenging may be able to "fall back" to the moderate group, but please bring navigation aids in case you need to finish on your own. The ride becomes self-led for those ahead of or behind the group. We will observe the speed limit on the multi-use trails.
BRING SNACKS! We'll pause at three excellent rest stops (Seward, Coulon, and Marina Parks, in addition to a quick stop early on at Matthews) but are not planning on any sit down, purchase food/coffee stops.
Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats; we'll pause briefly for flat repair and minor mechanicals, but have a phone and a plan to get home/back to the start if needed.
If there's a chance of precipitation, fenders with long mud flaps are recommended. Anywhere the road is wet, if you don't have stable flaps extending to within a few inches of the ground, you'll need to take the initiative to stay behind everyone with better fenders.
Please register at least two hours in advance on this website to save time at the start. You can also register at the start.
Plan to arrive 15 minutes early for briefing and ride prep so that we can leave on time.
Cancellation: Forecast for rain, snow, ice/frost or other unsafe riding conditions will be cause for cancellation, in which case the ride leader will not be at the start and the cancellation will be posted (in Comments, below) at least 2 hours before the start. Check your email before heading to the start if you registered online.
