WRUMPS--Three Friends Fishing Hole to Alki

It looks like the sun will return for the first week of December.  So, let's go for a ride to Alki and enjoy the sun, scenery and friendship of others who love to ride and enjoy the beautiful sunny winter afternoon before the clouds, gloom and rain return.

We will leave Three Friends Fishing Hole in Kent on the Green River Trail.  This trail ends at Cecil Moses Memorial Park.  From here we jump onto the road and head north riding through the town of South Park.  After we pass through South Park we will ride on the Alki and Duwamish Trails which run along West Marginal Way.  West Marginal Way has very heavy car and semi truck traffic during the weekday and so it will be much safer for us to ride on the trails during this Wednesday's ride.  But once we turn onto Harbor Ave SW we will exit the Alki Trail and ride on the road and enjoy the scenic waterfront views that Alki has to offer as we continue on to our turning point and rest stop at Starbucks.  Right across the street from Starbucks is the Statue of Liberty Plaza.  Before we head back we will get a group shot with the statue.

Please arrive at least 15-20 minutes before the ride start at 10 AM so you can get your bike and yourself ready and hear the S.M.A.R.T. talk (safety briefing).

There are restrooms at Three Friends Fishing Hole but the last time I was there they were closed due to vandalism.  Hopefully they are open again.  Google maps has a difficult time locating Three Friends Fishing Hole's address.  If you are on West Valley Road turn west onto South 196th St.  The park is on the left at the second traffic light just across the railroad crossing.  If you go over a bridge/Green River you passed the turn.

New riders are welcome, but please review link below. Riders should be able to maintain the pace and know how to change a flat tire (and carry the equipment to do so).

Come prepared to fix flats and have a plan for dealing with mechanical issues. Generally the group will not wait for flats/mechanical issues so make sure you know the route or have printed a CUE sheet.

Please register for the ride by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page, click the waiver release box, complete the Emergency Contact Number, and click on Save.  By doing this you will save time at the ride start. If you are unable to attend you do not need to "un-register."
