MUMPS: Do The Lake (Brisk)
Event has already happened.
NOTE: New start location @ Log Boom Park
With the return to Standard Time, MUMPS resumes its typical winter Lake Washington loop route (sometimes with variations), and starts at Log Boom Park in Kenmore. There is a four hour parking restriction in the Park. If you are concerned it might be enforced you can park nearby on NE 175th.
It's our goal to have both Brisk and Moderate MUMPS most Mondays (possibly other paces as well) listed here as separate rides. The default route is the counter-clockwise loop of Lake Washington (RWGPS link below). Join us for all or part of the route. Start at Log Boom Park or meet us at the Leschi Starbucks at about 11:00. (We make a brief coffee stop there.)
We will try to stay together, but riders who might find this pace/course challenging should bring navigation aids, in case you find yourself substantially off of group pace and need to finish on your own. The ride becomes self-led for those ahead of or behind the group. We will observe the speed limit on the multi-use trails.
Rest/coffee stops are noted on the RWGPS route; note that the stop at mile 29.6 may vary from a quick restroom stop to a 20-30 min. coffee/lunch break, depending on the mood of the group.
Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats; we'll pause briefly for flat repair and minor mechanicals, but have a phone and a plan to get home/back to the start if needed.
If there's a chance of precipitation, fenders with long mud flaps are recommended, for safety and courtesy. Anywhere the road is wet, if you don't have flaps close to the ground, you'll need to take the initiative to stay behind everyone with better fenders.
Please register at least two hours in advance on this website to save time at the start. You can also register at the start.
Plan to arrive 15 minutes early for briefing and ride prep so that we can leave on time.
In case of cancellation for any reason, the ride leader will not be at the start, and notice will be posted here at least two hours prior; please check "Comments" (below) before heading to the start (and check your email, if you registered online).
Hope you can join us!
