EARTHDREAM Rides Sommerset and Mercer Island

EAstside Ride The Hill DREAM rides are focused on helping strong riders get stronger by training on challenging hills. You can ride the hills at your own pace; we will regroup at the top. EARTHDREAM rides emphasize teamwork and cooperative riding in a way that is fun and encourages each rider to develop their cycling skills.  Our pace tends to be consistent especially on hills where the climbs are fast and strong.  Riders who struggle to maintain a vigorous pace may find it challenging to stay with the group.  We will attempt to accommodate people with a range of abilities, but riders who are significantly off the group pace should come prepared to finish the ride on their own if necessary.

Starting in Kirkland, this ride climbs some challenging hills in Bellevue, including Sommerset, which is a doozie.  Then we loop around Mercer Island, which gives us about 8  miles of fun, low-traffic roads without a single stop sign or traffic light.  We finish by crossing both Lake Washington floating bridges and returning to Kirkland via the 520 bike trail.   

The starting location is at the South Kirkland Park and Ride.  There is no water or restrooms at the starting location, so please plan accordingly. We will plan on one stop for water and a restroom break at Enatai Park  in Bellevue.

Steady rain cancels this ride.  If the ride is cancelled due to weather, a notice will be posted in the comments 2 hours prior and the ride leader will not be at the start.  Be sure to check back on this web site for weather updates if the weather is in doubt. Please bring fenders if the roads are wet.
