South Seattle Greenways Loop

This will be an exploration ride of a couple of South Seattle’s neighborhood greenways and trails with some climbs and descents. We will meet at the Atlantic City Boat Ramp parking lot bathroom building (8702 Seward Park Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118) near Beer Sheva Park. Parking can be found along Seward Park Ave S, S Henderson St, and Wabash Ave S. Beer Sheva Park is easily accessible from the Link light rail; get off at Rainier Beach Station and head east on South Henderson Street for 0.8 miles to get to Beer Sheva Park (it’s at the end of South Henderson Street).

We will first get onto the Rainier Valley North-South greenway, then cross the I-90 Trail onto the Central District North-South greenway. After riding north, we will take a quick break for water/restrooms at the Garfield Community Center. Then we will turn onto the Central District East-West greenway which leads to Seattle University. We will ride on the road to cross Joze Rizal Bridge and turn onto the I-90 Trail. Then, we will turn onto the Beacon Hill greenway before turning onto the Chief Sealth Trail and returning back to the start.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to ride start. Please sign the electronic waiver by creating a free account on the Cascade website. Please bring basic tools (extra tubes, patch kit, etc.) as well as water and snacks, as it may be warm that day. Have a back-up plan in case you are unable to finish (friend/family who can pick you up, ORCA card to use public transit).

Cancellations: In the event of a weather cancellation, a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride and the ride leader will not be at the ride start location. Cue sheets will not be provided, please print one if desired. Restrooms: there are restrooms at the start in Beer Sheva Park, and there will be opportunities along the route to stop if needed at Garfield Community Center (mile 8.2) and Jefferson Park (mile 12.1).
