Free Group Ride
Hogan Park, Ravensdale, Green River Gorge, Enumclaw
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
We will leave Hogan Park (formerly Russell Road Park), riding the trail around the golf course and head south and east out the Green River Trail and some quiet roads, past Isaac Evans park (first stop about mile 7) and skirt downtown Auburn on our way up the hill passing through Black Diamond on our way to Ravensdale at mile 25 for water/bathroom/food break. We will leave there going east, turning south to Kanaskat, Cumberland and a dip down to the Green River Gorge bridge for a photo op. Then, retracing our path back out of the Gorge, we head south some more and connect with a lovely country road on the east side of the Enumclaw plateau before dropping down into the valley. We will take a vote at the bottom of this descent. Since there are few comfort stops on this route, we can take a side trip into Flaming Geyser for restrooms (no water) and/or take the mapped route on Green Valley Road west for about 7.5 miles before a comfort break with available food and water. Possible Green Doors between the Gorge and the plateau. We will be flexible. There is no meal stop on this ride. Be sure to bring fuel.
NOTE: There was a planned road closure on the Black Diamond Ravensdale road but it has been delayed until after this ride. If we get there and it is closed afterall, we will take an alternate route to the Gorge that takes about 10 miles off the total and we will include a stop at the Black Diamond Bakery since we won't see Ravensdale.
Water, restrooms and ample parking available at Hogan Park. RWGPS route and cue sheet link are below. If you need a cue sheet, please print one.
Please arrive early enough to unload your bike etc. and be prepared to leave at 9am sharp after the SMART briefing.
Please RSVP by clicking on the red "Register Now" button under the ride title above, then checking the box for "Waiver Signature" and filling in the contact information. This will save us time at the start. Note that the on-line RSVP requires a Cascade Bicycle Club account, which is easy to set up, but if you don't want one of those just come anyway and sign the hard-copy attendance/hold harmless sheet.
The listed phone will not be answered after 8:00 on the morning of the ride. If weather conditions meet the "Showers cancel" criterion, I will post a ride-cancelled note in Comments, below, at least 2 hours prior and not go to the start.
