Free Group Ride
Darrington, White Chuck Mountain, Mixed Terrain
Event has already happened.
This is a mixed terrain ride around White Chuck Mountain. Twenty of the forty-five miles is off road. There are off-road sections greater than 10 percent both uphill and downhill. Some of the roads get quite rough. The majority of the off-road route is not accessible to cars due to two partial road washouts and a rock slide. If your bike breaks and you can't fix it you will have to walk out!
I am doing this on my Gravel bike that has been modified for better climbing gears and the largest tires that will fit 40mm front and 38mm rear. While scouting the route July 7th I got two punctures from hitting things hard on the downhill. There is no cell service on most of the route. All that said this route is beautiful and a joy to ride. I have posted some pictures on the link. Be sure to bring a GPS or a map. No cue sheets will be given at the start. I hope to stay together regrouping at hilltops and intersections. I have labeled the pace as brisk as in the effort of doing 16-18 on the flats on a road bike.
Please bring a helmet, lights, two spare tubes, patch kit, tools including a chain tool and pins or master link that work for your chain, tire boot, pump, food, 2 water bottles, and a jacket. Those running tubeless tires should bring a spare tube. (Saved Me)
