Free Group Ride
Less Hills Leisurely Ride
Event has already happened.
Ride Description: Leisurely pace of 10-12mph on the flats. Come join me for a fun, and social ride while increasing your own fitness. So much joy to be had. As always, we ride SMART: staying alert, maintaining space between riders, acting predictably for other riders and for our automobile friends, respecting the rules of the road, and we talk a lot regarding cars approaching, divots in the pavement, glass, etc.
The start location will be at Lower Woodland Park near center field of the ballpark and exactly where there are restrooms. We will ride on urban Seattle streets as well as some trails. We will keep the published pace on flats, but you can go uphill at your own pace. We will keep the group together on these rides. You should bring your own cue sheet. Please pack water, snack, and tools/tubes to fix a flat. Do print out your own cue sheets though it's not hard to find your way home.
Even though the majority of ride will be in daylight, please have your lights (both front and back) just in case. This week we ride north to 145th and head west to some beautiful Broadview neighborhoods, then head south through Ballard and access the Burke Gilman where we head home via Wallingford Ave. ----Distance: 15.9 miles ----Elevation gain: 878 ft ----There will be some hills. ----If there are showers, the ride will be cancelled. We will roll at 6 pm so please come early enough to get ready, sign a waiver, and listen to the safety briefing. Registering at the Cascade Bike Club site will make the process easier and we can better prepare with appropriate number of Ride Leaders. In addition to showers, any other hazardous conditions will cancel a ride. If a ride is cancelled due to hazardous conditions, the notice will be posted at the Cascade site in the comments section, and on this page by 4:00 p.m. on the day of the ride. If that notice is posted, the ride leaders will not be at the start.
