Ride from Wenatchee to the Anjou Bakery for Lunch
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Eastern Washington can be a far poke from Seattle, but if you are in the Wenatchee area for other reasons, or if you just itch to get out of town and try an unfamiliar route, consider joining our ride to the Anjou Bakery. (The 11:00 a.m. start time is set for the convenience of the ride leader and others who will be crossing the Cascades to participate, but cyclists already closer to the start are of course welcome.) We will cycle through orchards on country roads that afford dramatic views of the Wenatchee River. Cruising westward, just before reaching Cashmere we arrive at our destination, the Anjou Bakery. After lunch, we retrace our steps, then ride past the start to explore the 10-mile Apple Capital Loop Trail, which runs along the east and west banks of the Columbia River.
Notes: (1) At no point does this ride involve riding on or crossing State Highway 2. (2) The Apple Capital Loop Trail portion of the ride is well marked and is not included on the cue sheet.
The ride begins at Wenatchee Confluence State Park. To reach the park from the west, follow State Highway 2 to Wenatchee. Approaching Wenatchee, take the exit for US 2E/SR97N, then exit onto Easy Street and follow the brown signs to the park entrance. Discover Pass, or payment of a daily entrance fee, is required. The ride leader will be in the parking area near the playground at the north end of the park. To get there, keep left after going through the entrance check-point and continue for approximately one-half mile. Restrooms and water are available at the start.
We will leave the park at 11:00 a.m. Plan to arrive at least 20 minutes early so we will be able to do introductions and the safety briefing and start on time.
This is a social ride, and we will stay together. The pace is “leisurely,” which means riders should be comfortable with riding 10-12 mph on a flat road without wind.
