FRIDAY RIDERS: Juanita Beach Park - Burke Gilman - 520 Bridge Trail

A recreational ride that crosses two bridges: Montlake Bridge and the new 520 Bridge from the Seattle side. Meet at Juanita Beach Park in Kirkland by 9:45 AM to ready your bike, sign the waiver and listen to a safety briefing. There is free parking, restrooms and water available at the start. We leave promptly at 10 am and head north on Kirkland roads to the Burke Gilman Trail near the Wayne Golf Course. Head toward Seattle passing by Log Boom Park (restrooms), Mathews Beach Park (restrooms), Sand Point and cutting through the University of Washington to the Montlake Bridge. After crossing the Montlake Bridge we will find the entrance to the 520 Bridge Trail and cross to the Eastside. Exit trail to NE Points Drive and left onto Lake Washington Blvd. There will be a food/rest stop late in the ride at Carillon Point Starbucks. A mile or two further brings you back to Juanita Beach Park and the end of the ride.

Please bring a spare tube, inflation and tools to fix a flat tire. Money or credit card is needed if you wish to purchase coffee/food from Starbucks at the rest stop. Dress according to the weather in layers that can be added or removed: jacket, head band to keep the ears warm and gloves are some of the necessary winter wear items. Hydration and snacks are important year-round so please carry a water bottle and possibly granola bars and fruit.

If weather is inclement, check the comments section of this ride for a cancellation notice from the ride leader. The ride can be cancelled 2 hours prior and the ride leader will not appear at the start.

Advance registration is encouraged and saves you time at the ride start. Click on the 'register' button at the top and fill in the blanks. You need to have a Cascade account and log-in to register. If you change your mind you do not have to un-register.

In addition to rain - snow, ice, slippery conditions and very cold temperatures will also cancel the ride.
