Get on Your Bike, Ride #4-Sumner to Chihuly Bridge of Glass

Have you been off the bike for a while? Bought a bike and not yet confident riding?  Whether you are riding for health, fitness or just fun here is your opportunity to develop riding skills, become more familiar with your bike and feel confident riding in a group.

As a special treat, this week we start with a free "Fix a Flat" class at 10:30 am at the "Bonney Lake Bicycle Shop in Sumner" across the street from the parking lot.  Please arrive at the start by 10:00 am so you can ready your bike, listen to the SMART talk and route briefing then head over to the "Fix a Flat" class.

Today's route destination takes us over to the Chihuly Bridge of Glass in Tacoma using low traffic roads with a few short hills. We will have a coffee stop at the mid-point, please bring money for coffee/pastry if desired.

This is a social ride with experienced ride leaders to grow your confidence with group riding. It is free and open to everyone.  Everyone will ride together so you need not be concerned about being left behind. The elevation and mileage will increase every week. A total of 8 rides every Sunday with one on Saturday. Rides start promptly at 11:00 am.

"Steady pace" is less than 13 mph on a flat surface without any headwind. Note that, average walking speed is around 3 mph, so we will be 4 times faster than walking. If you are not sur3e about your pace, please join us anyway.  If you need to return to the start early simply notify the Ride Leader.

You should dress appropriately for the weather, but you do not need spandex or other specialized bike gear. All you need is a working bike, water, and a helmet. If you haven't ridden your bike for quite some time, please do an ABC Check (link below) or take it to your local bike shop a few days prior to the ride date.

During the safety and ride briefing, we will go over hand signals and what we say during the ride to keep ourselves safe.

Register - Please sign an e-waiver by clicking on the “Register Now” button at the top of this page (right below the ride title) and enter your information. If you cannot make the ride, you do not need to unregister.

Weather - Showers or more severe weather will cancel the ride.  Ride cancellation will be announced in the comments section at least two hours before the start time, and the ride leader(s) will not be at the start.
