520 Bike Trail Grand Opening-from Cascade Bicycle Club
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
It's finally going to happen! SDOT said they would open the 520 bike trail "sometime this fall". So, a day before the Winter Solstice, join us for a 17 mile, moderate paced (15mph) ride from the Cascade Bicycle Club clubhouse across the 520 floating bridge to Evergreen Point and return. Let's meet outside the CBC building in Magnuson Park at 2pm for a safety brief, then we'll roll out promptly at 2:15. We'll ride through the Windermere and Laurelhurst neighborhoods, then past Husky stadium and across the Montlake bridge to the old MOHAI building where we will meet up with other groups for the grand departure across the bridge. We've been told that there will be a "ribbon cutting" event at 3pm on the west side of the trail, after which we continue across the bridge to Evergreen Point. We'll return via Montlake and the Burke Gilman Trail to Magnuson Park. Restrooms and water available at the start, but none along the way. Fenders always nice if the roads are wet. Sunset is at 4:20 pm, so a front light is recommended, just in case. Hope you can join us!
