WRUMPS: 520 Bike Trail Grand Opening Mid-Lake Loop from Newport Hills P&R
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
The new 520 Bridge Bicycle Trail will be opening at 3pm on December 20th. This is the inaugural ride across the entire span of the 520 trail. We'll start at the Newport Hills Park and Ride, ride across Mercer Island and the I-90 Bridge before stopping for a coffee at Leschi Starbucks. After a short break, we'll ride over the the Arboretum and to the U-District where we'll get on the brand new 520 bridge right as they open at 3pm.
As this is also the shortest day of the year, while not required, lights on your bike might be a good idea. We will be finished before sunset, so lights are not required. If wet weather, please have fenders on your bike.
Should there be a delay in the opening of the bridge, we will do a Mercer Island Loop (21 miles) instead.
In case of bad weather causing cancellation, the ride leader will not be at the start and it will be announced here at least 2 hours prior to the ride start. Please arrive 20 minutes early to ready your bike and hear the safety briefing. Have a cue sheet printed should you have a mechanical.
What to Know Before You Go
- Advance registration required. Cancel if unable to attend, to open space for others.
- Must be present at safety briefing to participate.
