Gig Harbor Cushman Power (Line Trail) Trip
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
If you live in or near Gig Harbor, Cushman Trail is a great place to get on your bike. This six mile mixed use trail runs along our powerlines and intersects city streets in a few places. The members of the city's parks commission, city council, city employees and involved community activists are getting a special invitation to this ride and we will be discussing ways to improve this trail for all users, pointing out safety, maintenance and wayfinding issues. We'll continue the discussion after the ride at Gig Harbor's own Wet Coast Brewery, which is conviently located along the trail around the corner from City Hall, our start location.
Please register for the ride by using the "Register Now" button at the top of the page. You can sign the waiver at the ride start, but it will save us time if you register on-line at least two hours before the ride start time. You do not need to be a member of Cascade to register on-line, you just need to create an account. There is no cost to create an account. If you register and your plans change, there is no need to "unregister". If you are not there at the start time, we'll assume you are not coming.
We'll be meeting in front of City Hall at 2:30 for pre-ride introductions, instructions, and waiver sign off.
New riders are especially welcome. If you are new to Cascade free group rides, please read our newcomer information (link above). Please note: helmets are required on all Cascade rides and also required by law in Gig Harbor. Other strongly recommended items to bring with you: water, snacks, a spare tube, tire levers and anything else needed to change a flat tire, a charged cell phone, ID, a credit card and some cash. If roads are wet, please have fenders on your bike.
The ride with GPS link below has the route map that you can download and cue sheets that can be printed. Please print a cue sheet if you would like one.
Cancellation Policy: Steady rain cancels - if needed, a weather cancellation will be posted in the Comments sections below two hours prior to the ride start time and the ride leader will not be at the start location. If the weather is questionable, please check here before leaving for the ride.
