Spokane! Fall Coffeeneuring to Cheney
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
It's fall, it's getting cold, but it's not time to stop cycling! But really, it's getting cold, so bike rides need to start incorporating something warm, like coffee... (or tea, or pastries, or whatever). A bonus incentive is to work towards the coffeeneuring challenge.
We'll leave this week from the roundabout of Pacific and Cannon in Browne's Addition (in Spokane) and ride out on the Fish Lake Trail to Cheney for coffee at Mason Jar. We'll loop back towards the Fish Lake trail through the hills behind EWU and end back in Browne's Addition. The full loop will be 40 miles, with ~1500 ft of gradual climbing. Please make sure to arrive with enough time to get prepared to ride. We'll have a pre-ride safety brief 10 minutes beforehand. As is required with all Cascade rides, please ensure you have a helmet, and leave the earbuds at home.
Regroups: This will be a social ride, so we'll try to stick together as best we can. We will regroup at the top of bigger hills. Please come prepared to fix a flat, in you happen to be unfortunate and have a puncture. It's recommended that you print a cue sheet of the route (see the link below) just in case you get separated from the group.
Pace: The ride is posted for a brisk pace (16-18 MPH on the flats w/o wind or drafting), but the pace can be lowered somewhat to accommodate the preferences of the group.
Rest Stops: The coffee stop is at Mile 15 in Cheney. Mason Jar - https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-mason-jar-cheney
RSVP: Please sign an e-waiver (red Register Now button just below the ride title if you are signed into Cascade.org), so we can plan for the appropriate number of Ride Leaders. Cancellation Policy: If the weather is really wet and raining steadily or if there is snow / ice on the route, the ride will be cancelled. A note will be posted as a comment on this page regarding ride cancellation one hour prior to the start. If canceled due to weather, the ride leaders will not be at the start.
