Log Boom and UP to Edmonds, then return
Event has already happened.
This is a somewhat challenging but rewarding trip UP the hill(s) from Log Boom to Edmonds, with some lovely views once we hit Edmonds and a stop at the delightful Walnut Street Coffee in Edmonds. Not a great hill climber? No worries: Your leader isn't either, and that's why we're doing this route. The first half of the journey is much more up than down. No really steep pitches, but a steady grind that's good for the soul and the legs. As we approach Edmonds there are a number of chances to enjoy the views and relax your legs a bit. Climb at your own pace. We'll regroup at the top of all major climbs, at major intersections, and at any other time that we need to.
Our pace is Steady (12-14 mph on the flats; slower on the uphills; faster on the downhills).
Please register for this ride by creating a free Cascade Bike club (see Create a Cascade account link below) account. This will allow you to pre-sign the waiver for each posted ride by clicking on “Register Now”. Online registration closes two hours prior to ride time, and if you decide to ride after that we will have a waiver sheet for you to sign manually. Registration is not mandatory but it allows us to print the rider list beforehand and helps us save time at the ride start.
If you are a new rider, we are very happy to have you with us. Please read the New Rider link, below, and keep in mind that a helmet is required on all Cascade rides. Also, riders should be able to sustain the pace, carry nutrition/water, and have the know-how and equipment to fix a flat tire (but we will help if needed). Everyone should carry a phone to call for assistance if needed.
NOTE: Log Boom Park has a 4-hour parking time limit, and probably will be crowded with park users on a Sunday. If you drive to Kenmore, please leave your car along NE 175th Street east of the park entrance and ride to meet us at the park restrooms.
Please arrive at least 20 minutes early so that you can get yourself ready, sign the waiver, and listen to the S.M.A.R.T. briefing. This allows us to have an on-time departure.
A route map isat the Ride With GPS link, below. A cue sheet is also below. If you want a cue sheet please print and bring it. The ride leader will not have extra copies.
Cancellation Policy: If needed, a weather cancellation will be posted two hours prior in the Comments section, below, and the ride leader will not be at the start. Please check here or on the Meetup site before leaving for the ride.
