Scenic Magnuson Park (Cascade Bike Club)-Sultan Loop
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
This enjoyable scenic country ride provides great conditioning and is a favorite of participants, with its mix of flats and hills and much of the route in the shade. We ride on the Burke-Gilman trail, and good roads, through Woodinville, Monroe and Sultan and return on an alternate route. See the attached pictures on the link below. Note that the pace on the Burke Gilman Trail will be at about 15 mph due to the speed limit and trail traffic.
You will need to start with two filled full sized water bottles with refills at the Sultan Bakery. Bring a snack to eat while riding. Bathrooms available at Magnuson Park, and we will make a bathroom stop at Lewis Street Park in Monroe on the Skykomish River at approximately 27 miles distance, and at the half way point (37 miles), where we will stop at the Sultan Bakery for a snack and conversation.
Climb the hills at your own pace and we will regroup at the top. The pace on level pavement is 16-18 mph with no wind, slower up hills, and faster down hills. For those that elect to go at a slower pace the downloadable gps link of the route map and printable cue sheet (Magnuson Park CBC-Sultan Loop) allow you to ride independently if needed.
The ride start was moved from Log Boom Park to the Cascade Bicycle Club location because there is now a 4 hour parking restriction within Log Boom park. This ride typically with breaks should take about 5 hours. The route now extends down the Burke Gilman Trail from the Cascade Bicycle Club and passes by Log Boom Park.
Please register online for this ride, and that way you will not have to sign on the registration sheet. We will have the usual brief introduction and safety briefing prior to the ride as listed below. Arrive early so that your bike is ready to ride, and we can finish the safety discussion and start riding at 9 AM.
As with all Cascade Bicycle Club rides be prepared to fix your own flats, wear a well-fitting helmet, and no ear buds.
In the event of steady rain I will not be coming to the Cascade Bicycle Club and will post a cancellation notice in the Comments section 2 hours prior to the ride start.
